Cornerstone: Couple Coordinator’s Conference

June 23, 2017 – ANCOP’s Cornerstone conducted the Couple Coordinator’s conference at the Leong Hall, Ateneo de Manila University. It is attended by CFCs from the Metro Manila missions and the Philippine missions.

The program started with an opening worship and is followed with an opening remark from Bro. Arnel Santos, SocDev Program Head. Bro. Arnel enlighten the participants that Cornerstone and its works goes to the peripheries and not just on the people below the line.

The state of the cornerstone address, communicated by Bro. Freddie Fernandez highlighted the growth of the cornerstone in thirty two areas and the convergence it holds and aims to develop. “You see, brothers and sisters, even outside our community recognizes our efforts… We do this because we love our brothers and sisters”.

The first part of the conference includes the session entitled “Job vs. Ministry”. The session’s speaker is Bro. Jason Briones, who explained and differentiated the disposition of a job and a ministry. The session became a reminder of the kind of work that has to be done and that reaching out to many makes a better ministry.

The “EnCourage” session was also given through Sis. Ninay Quimpang. Understanding that cornerstone involves different sectors, Sis. Ninay gave tips to encourage different areas and what approach we must possess, such as being a loving and caring one. Sis. Ninay added: “We have different perceptions, but we definitely have the same direction” after giving an activity during her talk.

Last for the morning program is the session for the strengthening of the roles and responsibilities of the cornerstone and the coordinators. The speakers were Bro. Eric and Sis. Annie Santiago who discussed the guidelines in building relationships and upholding structures for the cornerstone program. They also narrated their sacrifices and victories along with the stories from Tita Beng Anover and Madam Rasco.

The afternoon of the conference started with a message from Dr. Carmela Oracion of Ateneo Center for Education and Development. Her words leave a dare for everyone; “The real challenge is to keep doing this until we can achieve the significance we could have for our country.”  The rest of the afternoon revolved on the workshop facilitated by Sis. Thelma Hizon. It is a conversation between the participants and the facilitators of regarding different concerns such as: relationship with LGUs and NGos, the team and its training, the implementation and evangelization of cornerstone. The breakdowns and lists opf concerns were discoursed with panel members and evaluators of the workshop.

The activity ended with praise fest and commissioning led by Nino Guerrero; where printed messages and word of encouragement were passed out to anyone in the hall.
