NORTH A MISSION CORE INSPIRED BY THE MISSION WITH THE POOR RETREAT
Wednesday, March 14, 2018
Hearts, hand and feet progress as North A Sector conducted the Mission with the Poor Retreat last November 18 to 19, 2017 at the North A Mission Center in Caloocan City.
CFC Leaders in the mission core level gathered to ponder on the essence of sharing and caring for others. The two-day retreat enables the participants to share their reflections and experiences as they come across the less fortunate individuals.
The first day started with an introduction of what the retreat is all about. Sis. Sheh Canlas from the Cornerstone program encouraged the participants to have their retreat as a time to encounter the Lord and to unlearn things in order to fill themselves with new learnings. After the introduction and worship, the program proceeded with the sessions.
The first session entitled “The Church of the poor” was given by the provincial area head of Laguna, Bro. Erick Delos Reyes. He discussed the different kinds of poverty and how to integrate with these issues with compassion. He told the participants not to nurture an indifference to the poor neighbor for it will also be an indifference to God.
Subsequently, the session “Caring for the person in need” was conferred to the participants. The second session is with Bro. Mike Bukuhan, missions’ head of Metro Manila, as the speaker. It focused on the message of embracing each and every person with different virtues as an answer to the cry of the poor. He added that in this way, people will be able to be an instrument to bless those who are poor not just materially but also spiritually.
In the afternoon, participants were given the opportunity to immerse in different areas in order to understand the people living in the diverse situations of poverty. The retreatants were then divided into two groups; the first group went in one of the ANCOP sites, the ANCOP Tala Village. They were able to hear the stories of the healed hansenites in the area and share their early Christmas gifts to them. On the other hand, the second group met the orphans and the elderly of Bahay Kalinga and was given the chance to share hope through having a conversation with them.
After the immersion, retreatants shared their realizations during the activity. Afterwards, the evening session with Bro. Lito Tayag, Chairman of CFC ANCOP, took place. The focal of the session is about “Sharing for the common good”. Bro. Lito conversed about the actions to be done in order to extend one’s self to the marginalized sectors. He called to act on this challenges with the means essential for the development of our society. He said, “Mga kapatid, napakadaming nang challenges na ating hinaharap dito sa ating mundo. And truly, the Lord is telling us to really do something about it.” (Brothers and sisters, we are facing lots of challenges in our world. And truly, the Lord is telling us to really do something about it)
The last day of the retreat run with the last session from Bro. Jimmy Ilagan, former chairman of CFC ANCOP. The fourth session entitled “Future full of Hope” revolves around foreseeing the better days through working for the goodness in the present. Bro. Jimmy laid the different programs of ANCOP and Social Development to help achieve the goals of aiding the poor. He ended his talk by setting Mother Mary as an example of how to love the brethren in need.
The retreat ended with group discussion and sharing where the core laid their different perspective in the spectrum of uplifting the marginalized.
Despite having such measures in the Bicol Region due to the volcanic activities of Mayon, delegates from Holy Child Parish in Saskatchewan, Canada, led by CFC ANCOP Regina shared their time and hope to the residents of Tabaco City, Albay through an immersion last February 19-22, 2018.
CFC ANCOP is joyous to fully embrace programs that will support the projects of government in building by producing individuals skilled for constructing structures for the country. With this, the foundation partnered with different organizations that caters Technical and Vocational courses such as Don Bosco TVET Center.
