METRO MANILA – More than fifty thousand individuals took a step and participated in the ANCOP Global Walk 2017 last September 17 at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta.
This year’s Global Walk carried the theme “Extra Mile For Love”, reminding everyone that love is encompassing and partaking. The walk is also a mark that the families will continue to help other families surface from poverty.
The gates of the event opened at 12 midnight for registration and food booth. As a start, the Music Festival was conducted where crowd enjoyed the performances of DJ Wacky, the Malachi Band, UPeepz, Sam Mangubat and Liveloud. Ms. Bernadette Sembrano, who also joined the AGW narrated that she was once a member of Singles For Christ. She also shared how heartened she is of how each has put their faith into action.
The Music Festival was followed by an Opening Worship led by the AGW 2017 Event Head and CFC Central A Sector Head Bro. Bboy Arguelles. He reminded the participants that it is about sharing the love to one another. He added: “If anyone pressures you to go to a service for one mile, go two miles with him.”
The event also featured a Zumba Worship before the walk, which is the highlight of the day.
The gun start was steered by Bro. Robert Labayen, sector head of South A and Head of the Creative Communications Management of ABS-CBN. The walk was initiated by the CFC International Council and was followed by the partner agencies and different sectors of Metro Manila.
A holy mass was also celebrated with Fr. Jhonatan Letada as the priest presider and was concelebrated with Fr. Paul Uwemedimo.
The thanksgiving of the scholars was presented with the message from Bro. Melo Villaroman Jr., CFC Chairman, who highlighted that the advocacy is the answer to the cry of the poor.
The AGW ended with a Kid’s praise led by Bro. Jonathan Lloyd Polinar, Full Time Pastoral Worker of Kids For Christ.
Despite having such measures in the Bicol Region due to the volcanic activities of Mayon, delegates from Holy Child Parish in Saskatchewan, Canada, led by CFC ANCOP Regina shared their time and hope to the residents of Tabaco City, Albay through an immersion last February 19-22, 2018.
