A Multi-Purpose Center Built by BDO Foundation and CFC ANCOP Rises in Davao Oriental
Wednesday, September 13, 2017
BDO Foundation, in partnership with CFC ANCOP, has constructed a new multi-purpose center in Barangay Dahican, Mati, Davao Oriental for families devastated by Typhoon Pablo.
Called the BDO Foundation Multi-Purpose Hall, the structure was officially inaugurated and turned over to beneficiaries in an event attended by BDO Foundation program director Rose Espinosa, BDO Davao area head Elizabeth Estrada, BDO Davao-Mati branch head Corraine Gail Lawas, CFC ANCOP Global Foundation operations head Elmer Cadiz and CFC ANCOP Davao Oriental head Danilo Conde.
The multi-purpose hall was accepted on behalf of the beneficiaries by Davao Oriental vice governor Niño Sotero Uy and BDO Foundation-CFC ANCOP and Provincial Government Samahang Pabahay Community president Mario Cabrera.
The construction of the multi-purpose hall is part of the disaster response advocacy and long-term reconstruction program of BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, in areas affected by calamities.
Funded by donations from BDO officers and staff, the project benefits residents of Barangay Dahican in Mati for whom BDO Foundation and CFC ANCOP built a housing resettlement site.
Residents can use the BDO Foundation Multi-Purpose Hall for livelihood projects and socio-civic activities. The community can also use the structure for shelter, evacuation and the distribution of relief goods should typhoons hit the province.
Typhoon Pablo devastated Davao Oriental in December 2012, causing flash floods, destroying homes and disrupting people’s livelihood.

A HUNDRED individuals taking temporary refuge at the Ibaan, Batangas Evacuation Center, after being displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption, signed up for the TVET Training to Employment program, a venture sponsored by CFC ANCOP in partnership with DMCI, the Archdiocese of Lipa and Couples for Christ.
On January 12, just as everyone was still on the height of celebrating the start of a new decade, 2020 brought us one of its surprises no one expected—the Taal Volcano eruption. On its first day of volcanic activity, it spewed tons of ashes that greatly affected Batangas, and has reached nearby provinces and even parts of Metro Manila. This caused a lot of damage to the homes and livelihood of the residents, displacing thousands of them to different evacuation centers all over Batangas province.
