Catholic College Bendigo on Its Third Immersion Trip
Wednesday, September 13, 2017
Catholic College Bendigo (CCB), a Catholic secondary school in the city Bendigo in Victoria, Australia has been sending high school students and teachers to the Philippines and other developing countries for a cultural immersion experience as part of their “Alternative Schoolies Program”. Last year, CCB students embarked on a journey in Samoa and the Philippines.
Now on its third year, fourteen students and four teachers of CCB joined this year’s immersion trip to the Philippines.
This meaningful trip was led up by past students of CCB who were motivated to give practical assistance to those devastated by typhoons.
This year’s group arrived in the Philippines on February 21 and has raised funds which will go towards their construction of a house and agricultural work in CFC ANCOP Malbago Australia Homes in Madridejos, Cebu. They will be staying there until March 1.
Mornings are allotted for the construction of a house, painting of existing houses and gardening. In the afternoon, they visit schools and interact with some elementary and high school students with language workshop, get to know the community residents, play with the children of ANCOP Malbago, swim and do other cultural activities.
For nine days, they will live as part of the community. They will have the opportunity to know the stories of these people and how CFC ANCOP changed their lives. After this trip, the students will be bringing home memories that will surely last a lifetime.
This 2017 immersion was made possible through the partnership of CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc., CFC ANCOP Cebu and Our Connection.
On January 12, just as everyone was still on the height of celebrating the start of a new decade, 2020 brought us one of its surprises no one expected—the Taal Volcano eruption. On its first day of volcanic activity, it spewed tons of ashes that greatly affected Batangas, and has reached nearby provinces and even parts of Metro Manila. This caused a lot of damage to the homes and livelihood of the residents, displacing thousands of them to different evacuation centers all over Batangas province.
CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. (CAGFI) passed the ISO Surveillance Audit conducted by certifying body, TÜV Rheinland on January 29, 2020, maintaining its ISO 9001:2015 Certification.
