CFC 25th Golf Classic Opens Anniversary Week
Friday, July 05, 2019
Couples for Christ golf enthusiasts gathered for the 25th CFC Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, starting off the week-long activities of CFC’s 38th anniversary.
As early as 5:30 AM, golfers started to arrive at the Summit Point Golf and Residential Estates in Lipa City, Batangas for the annual fellowship for a cause. This year, the 117 golfers played for the benefit of the ANCOP Education Sponsorship Program.
The sun cooperated with the golfers, who officially teed off simultaneously at 7:40 AM. It was a morning of friendly competition among CFC golf old-timers, among them CFC International Council members Lito Tayag, who is also CFC ANCOP Chairman of the Board, and Reggie Ragojos, and the young blood of CFC led by Nestle Jeturian and his household.
Jeturian, who was also this year’s event head, was pleased with the turnout of golfers, many of whom were non-CFC, as well as with the sponsorship response as this would mean more funds for CFC ANCOP and more scholars.
During lunch, the CFC Golf Classic Committee awarded the winners for Class A, B, and C, the overall champion, and for the Team Category.
For Class C: 2nd runner-up was Trudy Cruz, 1st runner-up was Raph Garcia and Champion was Jojo Ignacio, with a net score of 72.8. For Class B: 2nd runner-up was Ron Castro, 1st runner up was Karl de los Santos and Champion was Henry Yutuc, with a net score of 73.6.
Class A had Lyndon Pamintuan as 2nd runner-up, Micray Gonzales as 1st runner-up and Manny Espeleta with a gross of 76, net of 71 as Champion. Overall champion was Carlo Canicosa
In the Team Category, Runner-up was the team composed of AS Tanjangco, Anthony See, Carlo Jimenez and Julio Fernandez. The team declared Champion was composed of Lyndon Pamintuan, Cezar Layag, Ken Padua and Lito Aguilar
It was indeed a day of sun and fun for the CFC golfers, their friends, and the tournament sponsors. Aside from the competition awards, there were also raffle prizes and loot bags from sponsors for all the players.
This year’s Golf Classic was a happy mixture of players from the Philippines (from as far as Kalinga and Butuan City), Australia, Singapore, and South Korea. (Alma Alvarez)
A HUNDRED individuals taking temporary refuge at the Ibaan, Batangas Evacuation Center, after being displaced by the Taal Volcano eruption, signed up for the TVET Training to Employment program, a venture sponsored by CFC ANCOP in partnership with DMCI, the Archdiocese of Lipa and Couples for Christ.
On January 12, just as everyone was still on the height of celebrating the start of a new decade, 2020 brought us one of its surprises no one expected—the Taal Volcano eruption. On its first day of volcanic activity, it spewed tons of ashes that greatly affected Batangas, and has reached nearby provinces and even parts of Metro Manila. This caused a lot of damage to the homes and livelihood of the residents, displacing thousands of them to different evacuation centers all over Batangas province.
