Two years after SM Foundation and CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. forged partnership in building 400 disaster-resilient homes for the super typhoon Yolanda survivors in Tacloban and barely a year after its completion and turnover in this new village now called Pope Francis CFC ANCOP Canada Community - SM Cares Village, the two organizations are back in the table in signing new partnership for the construction of another 200 houses in the province of Eastern Samar.
The Pope Francis Village in Kawayan, Tacloban City is the biggest housing project of the country’s biggest developer and is the third batch of the 1,000 houses committed by SM Foundation for Yolanda survivors.
SM Development Corporation (SMDC) and CFC ANCOP are now bringing a new housing project in Eastern Samar also intended for Yolanda survivors.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Jose Mari Banzon, Executive Vice President of SM Development Corporation; Jimmy Ilagan, Chairman of CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc.; Armenia Ballesteros of SMDC Business Planning and Development and Joe Tale, Chairman, Couples for Christ Global Mission Foundation, Inc. Present during the signing were Elena Horn of SM Cares and other representatives from both organizations. On January 12, just as everyone was still on the height of celebrating the start of a new decade, 2020 brought us one of its surprises no one expected—the Taal Volcano eruption. On its first day of volcanic activity, it spewed tons of ashes that greatly affected Batangas, and has reached nearby provinces and even parts of Metro Manila. This caused a lot of damage to the homes and livelihood of the residents, displacing thousands of them to different evacuation centers all over Batangas province.
CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. (CAGFI) passed the ISO Surveillance Audit conducted by certifying body, TÜV Rheinland on January 29, 2020, maintaining its ISO 9001:2015 Certification.
