PASAY CITY – Even before the sun was up, scores of golfers were at the Villamor Golf Course in this city to play for the benefit of CFC ANCOP-sponsored students at the CFC ANCOP Golf Tournament on June 15.
“At the end of the day, [the tournament is all about] our support, our generosity to think about the future of scholars… I think the condition of the heart of our players, our sponsors, will be an overwhelming gratefulness for the blessings that we have received. It’s paying forward for people who definitely need our support,” shared CFC ANCOP Golf Tournament Event Head Bro. Jon San Miguel in an interview.
Massive turnout
From 39 golf enthusiasts registered two weeks before, the participants grew to a staggering 111 on the day itself with dozens of walk-in golfers coming in from as far as Pampanga, Kalinga, Ozamis, and even Singapore and Brunei to play in Class A and B, Seniors’, and Ladies’ divisions.

For everyone, it was a day of fellowship and of raising funds for a cause. Ladies’ Division 2nd runner-up Therese Dela Cruz shared, “It feels very fulfilling because you’re not only having fun, but you’re also able to help other people through [golf].”
Other players like Ladies’ Division champion, Cecilia Espinoza, who also sponsored the event through her company Transcend Cargo Express, took the tournament seriously and walked away with a trophy.
She shared, “Since this is my first time, I was excited and prepared a lot, practiced a lot. And of course, my first time, I have to prove myself [that’s probably] why I won.”
