MANILA — As the non-stop rains and flooding are expected to continue with the Habagat and Typhoons DantePH and EmongPH, CFC ANCOP Executive Director and CFC International Council member Boyet Rafael calls on the public to exercise their Christian duty by assisting families and communities affected.
“We would like to do our part as a community to also look after the needs of our brethren, even the non-CFC brethren that we need to take care of because they are our brothers and sisters,” he said in a recent interview.

Thousands of families affected
As of July 23, 5pm, CFC ANCOP has been able to deliver much-needed assistance to 920 families all over Metro Manila. Rafael said the Couples for Christ (CFC) and ANCOP network on the ground has reported that an estimated 1,500 families are affected by severe flooding, impassable roads, and power failure.
The figure continues to grow by the hour.
He explained, “[We are] still waiting for other areas to report to us since there is still no access to communicate or visit them because areas are still flooded because of the continuous rain.”

While CFC ANCOP has prepared an initial Php 630,000 to assist affected families, Rafael said donations of the following items are welcome:
- hot meals
- food/relief packs
- personal hygiene kits
- medicine
- bottled water
Time, talent, & treasure
As both ANCOP and CFC continue to monitor the situation, Rafael has only words of gratitude for volunteers and donors who have been the warm bodies for the purchasing, packing, and distributing of the relief goods.
He said, “[I want to thank] all those who walk the extra mile, sharing their time, talent, and treasure that despite being affected as well, they continue to extend help.”
