TVET-MTC 5TH BATCH FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY WITH 50 GRADUATES
Wednesday, October 09, 2019
It was in September 2018 when CFC ANCOP and Don Bosco ONE TVET Philippines did the pilot run of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) at the Mobile Training Center (MTC) in Salcedo, Eastern Samar, and since then, it has come a long way in reaching out to hundreds of our poor brethren from the peripheries. In celebration of its first year, TVET-MTC had its first stop at Luzon Island with the fifth batch of training at Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro last September 16-20, 2019.
The program produced 50 graduates for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), with 25 trainees for each course. Several participants in the training were the minority tribes of the province, namely the Mangyan and Alangan tribes.
Bro. Isagani Garong of the Alangan Tribe, Couples for Christ (CFC) member and an EIM trainee, expressed his gratitude to CFC, CFC ANCOP, and Don Bosco for reaching to the minorities like him and bringing them the Good News through evangelization, and now, a skills training that they can use to find better jobs. He promised, “Akin po itong pahahalagahan dahil ito ang simula ng pag-angat ng aking kaalaman at kabuhayan.” (I will treasure this as this will the start of our improved knowledge and opportunities.)
This training was made possible by the generosity of CFC Switzerland and CFC-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s MTC truck donation.
More batch of TVET-MTC is set to run before the year ends with its goal of reaching out to 1000 poor brethren from the peripheries. More trucks donated by our CFC brethren from the USA and Middle East countries are now on standby, ready to reach to more Luzon provinces and the Mindanao Island. (PMB, ANCOP Communications)
St. Catherine of Siena said, “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” Being true to its two-fold mission of Building the Church of the Home and Building the Church of the Poor, Couples for Christ once again manifested this mission via the recent ANCOP Global Walk.
To answer the growing demand of the Information Technology (IT) industry in the country, Couples for Christ (CFC) - ANCOP and the Rotary Club of Commonwealth District 3780 joined hands in providing the IT Trainings and signed the memorandum of agreement on November 28, 2019, at the Centennial Hall, Club Filipino, San Juan City.
