If no one wrote about it, did it really happen?

This is something people in ANCOP have been seriously thinking about. Documentation—from events to projects to processes—is our version of “the victors are the ones who history.” This is why CFC ANCOP will be publishing a first ever documentation book to immortalize the birth of its latest SMDC-sponsored site: Salcedoville in Eastern Samar, by January 2022.

Stories behind the people

“The stories of the people involved in Salcedoville are coming in. We are awed and inspired by the spirit of love and community shared by the respondents,” said Efren Tompong, ANCOP Senior Operations Manager, in an interview.

After seeing photos of the site, currently having Phase 2 constructed, Tompong said it’s hard not to be excited about the outcome of the book.

“The stories of the people involved in Salcedoville are coming in. We are awed and inspired by the spirit of love and community shared by the respondents.”

He has been working closely with a team of writers and editors to piece together the story of how Salcedoville came about and why the project sets a standard for community development for future ANCOP housing projects.

ANCOP awarded the next batch of home owner-beneficiaries of Salcedoville in December 2021.

‘Best practices and more’

For ANCOP Chairman Rudy Gaspillo, the documentation book will also help future ANCOP presidents and staff look back on what worked, what didn’t work, and best practices for ANCOP’s housing program.

The book, which will gather the insights and observations of the technical team behind site, will cover the birthing pains of the project as well as real life stories of the people of Salcedoville. It will also be a chance for people behind the scenes like Mayor Melchor Melgar of Salcedo, Eastern Samar and Sheila Ching of SM Development Corporation to share what it was like being part of a project with true purpose.

The documentation book is set to be released in the first quarter of 2022.
