QUEZON City—Whenever we think about CFC ANCOP’s work, we immediately think about educational sponsorships or building houses.
But what some haven’t grasped is the impact of its values formation program, as attested by Arriane Roy Blazo, an ANCOP USA alumnus who graduated with flying colors.
‘Building character’
Deeply reflective and, at the same time, perceived as hardworking and driven, AR, as he is fondly called, recognized early on the role of CFC ANCOP in his life—and it went beyond financials.

“One pivotal moment in my life was through the ANCOP values formation he underwent as an active member of CFC Youth for Christ of West C.
It wasn’t just about financial support; it was about building character,” he said, recalling a particular retreat where they were asked to write letters to their “future selves”.
He added, “It reminded me to dream big and trust that there’s a greater plan for my life.”
His parents, his first role models
While AR had always excelled as a student, his family struggled with meeting their daily needs and education-related expenses.
Soon, he, too, would feel the pressure.
He explained, “The pressure to excel was constant, and there were moments of self-doubt and exhaustion. But I reminded myself of my purpose, and that helped me push through even the toughest days.”

Not surprising, considering that his parents, Oliver, a sales supervisor, and his mother Ronalyn, a pre-school teacher, were AR’s first role models.
“Together, they taught me the values of humility, faith, and perseverance,” he said.
According to AR, he witnessed how much his parents sacrificed for the family, stretching the budget and seeking extra income to make ends meet.
It is from them that he learned the virtue of fortitude and simplicity.
He added, “Their determination inspired me; I learned early on how to save and stretch my allowances, seeing it as a way to give back to them.”
‘Overwhelming’
When CFC ANCOP entered the picture, the Blazos could breathe a little easier, and AR could focus on academics—and how!
In 2024, he graduated magna cum laude from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, one of the most competitive state universities in Metro Manila, taking up a Bachelor’s of Science degree in hospitality management.
Recently, he got to sit down and share how this moment felt with a few from the ANCOP family, saying: “Graduating magna cum laude was overwhelming—filled with relief, pride, and gratitude.
It wasn’t just my achievement; it was a celebration for my family, ANCOP, and all who believed in me.”
Today, AR works as an events assistant at a five-star hotel and loves his job.
“The creativity and coordination involved in organizing events bring me so much joy. It’s fulfilling to see everything come together while meeting incredible people along the way,” he said when asked to describe his work.
Fly high, AR!
