QUEZON City – As one of the top three largest savings and loan associations in the Philippines celebrates its 92nd anniversary, it has chosen CFC ANCOP Global Foundation, Inc. as its corporate social responsibility (CSR) beneficiary.
Meralco Employees Savings and Loan Association, Inc. (Mesala), with total assets of more than Php 15 billion and a membership of 22,000+, will be marking another milestone, 92 years of existence on July 3, 2026, and has donated a total of Php 43,000 to CFC ANCOP, particularly through its Calamity and Disaster Response Program, which extended aid to the victims of the recent 7.8 magnitude-earthquake in General Santo City.

According to Mesala Head of IT Joseph Cabungcal, the initiative has raised awareness about the impact of volunteerism among their employees.
“We didn’t expect that [the employees] would give more than what Mesala would give. They knew that the victims were in need. The employees also have concern for the poor, those who are in need. Before we’ve done that but not this big,” he explained in an interview.
After the quake that devastated several parts of Mindanao on June 8, the Mesala board of trustees approved a Php 20,000 donation to the earthquake survivors, which was channeled through CFC ANCOP.
Later on, the board and Mesala employees helped raise an additional Php 23,000 more for CFC ANCOP.
Both donations were handed over to CFC ANCOP on June 22 in a simple turnover ceremony, which was graced by Mesala Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Atty. Horacio Bona; Mesala CEO Christopher Abenales; and board member Willie Baetiong.
